5 tips to sleep better

Rest is perhaps one of the moments we most look forward to in our day. When the body does not rest enough, different aspects of our lives can be affected and it is not convenient for us to see them affected. We feel down, we are more vulnerable to stress, defenses drop and the body is exhausted. To rest adequately, all we need is a few changes in our daily routine, that’s why we give you 5 tips to sleep better.

Take care of your food

We often make the mistake of going out to dinner and eating too much or ordering the heaviest dish for our stomach. When we eat fried foods, red meat, sugary or very heavy things, the body takes longer to digest and this will make you sleep worse and feel more tired. Try having some fruit or vegetables for dinner and a hot infusion, you can choose between cherries, tomatoes, bananas, or nuts.

Make your bedroom a sleep sanctuary

To sleep well you have to be comfortable and give your mind a space of peace to relax and rest. Our room should be comfortable, dark, and cool so that there are no reasons why we have to wake up in the middle of the night. When you go to sleep, check that your room is as you wish, that the sheets are clean, that the temperature is adequate, and that you want to go to bed. The most important thing is that the light is off and dark enough to tell our brain that it is time to sleep. Avoid sleeping with bright electronic devices next to you, the light it emits can be detrimental to your rest.

Exercise to sleep better

The benefits of exercising are no secret, but perhaps not well-known is the fact that keeping your body active can make it significantly easier to fall asleep. Getting at least 20 minutes of exercise every day can help you sleep better and more easily. The important thing to consider is that if you like to exercise at night, try to do it for at least a couple of hours before bed.

Take a bath and disconnect

Before going to sleep it is good to disconnect a bit mentally and physically. One of the most efficient ways to do this is to take a bath with hot water and, if possible, lavender oils. The hot water, the relaxing smell and just taking a few minutes to rest your body and cool off will help you relax and sleep much better.

Beware of caffeine

Having a good cup of coffee, tea, or some soft drink can be very comforting in the mornings or afternoons to reactivate us. But we have to be careful with the amount of caffeine we consume daily and the hours in which we take it. When we drink coffee, the body spends 5 hours working and it can take up to 13 hours to leave the body. Try to have the last caffeinated drink after eating and it will make it easier for you to sleep and rest. Replace it with an infusion of chamomile.
