We love 80s fashion! It was a super urban and fun time, characterized by hairstyles with a lot of volumes, lip gloss, and very marked shadows. As for clothing, tight lycra pants, miniskirts, wide blouses with shoulder pads predominated; the leather vests and jackets, and of course, the mesh stockings that remind us of the punk style. In short, it was a super transgressive look that continues to make us fall in love with its rebelliousness. Would you like to learn how to do an 80’s makeup? Follow this step by step and look very retro and style.
80S MAKEUP TUTORIAL
Eighties makeup was characterized by its color. The eyeshadows were worn in green, purple, navy blue, or metallic tones. As for the lips, bold and bright tones were used to match the rest of the makeup and clothes.
STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR SKIN
As always, we will start by applying a little makeup base all over the face and neck, to match the color and hide any type of irregularity. Then we will seal with a little compact powder to eliminate shine and help the foundation to set on the face and neck.
STEP 2: COLOR YOUR CHEEKS
The application of blush in those days was not exactly the most natural thing. If you look closely, most makeup photos show well-defined, pink cheekbones, almost doll-like. So to recreate this look we are going to take a bit of blush and apply it right on the apple that is created in the cacheticos when we smile … and that was just the technique that the girls applied in those days.
Also, apply on the chin and in the center of the forehead. We call this eighties contouring!
STEP 3: FINE AND WELL-MADE-UP EYEBROWS
During the eighties the eyebrows were thin and well defined, so to apply makeup, make sure you have them well plucked and mark them with the help of a pencil. We recommend eyebrow-defining pencil eyeliner, which thanks to its ultra-fine tip helps you recreate hairs with great precision, it also includes a spiral brush so you can comb your eyebrows and blur the lines.
STEP 4: COLORED SHADOWS
It’s time for eye makeup! For this, we are going to take an all-in-one eye & cheek palette eyeshadow kit, which comes in eight shades of perfect eyeshadow for the eighties look, it also includes a blush and an illuminator to complement it.
Start by applying the yellow shade under the arch of the brows. Then take the fuchsia shade and apply it under the yellow shade, up to the crease or eye socket. Then, take the blue shade and apply it on the mobile eyelid from the center to the ends of both eyes. Also, apply to the edge of the lower lashes.
To finish, apply a little green shadow from the tear duct of both eyes to the middle of the eyelid and finish with two or three layers of the lash, depending on the level of drama you want to achieve.
STEP 5: FUCHSIA LIPS
For the lips, as for the eyes, bold and bright shades were used; in this case, we are going to use the star color of the time, which was pink! For that, we are going to take the peach buff shade nudes line of glossy lipsticks.
Complement your look with a very voluminous hairstyle and with attractive bracelets, earrings, and necklaces.
